Credit cards for foreigners in ThailandThere are a fair number of foreigners who’ve lived in Thailand for a long time, and there are large number who find it convenient to obtain a credit card from a local bank not only to make their lives in Thailand easier, but also essential to access services such as online travel and booking, local ecommerce sites and plenty more besides. Furthermore, by using local cards, foreigners can also save the foreign-exchange fee charged when using foreign-issued credit cards in Thailand.

Domestically issued credit cards will also allow you to receive benefits from regular retail promotions, lucky prize draws, discounts and loyalty programmes. Some foreigners say that it’s really difficult to get a domestically issued credit card in Thailand, but it’s really not that hard and it’s certainly not impossible
When it comes to foreigners applying for a credit card every bank sets their own minimal work experience and monthly income condition, some more rigorous than others, but what all the banks will require are a work permit and passport.

This post will help you to get some idea about the conditions and criteria to get credit cards in Thailand with each of the main financial institutes.

Bangkok Bank
•    25,000 baht monthly salary
•    Proof of salary
•    Hold a work valid permit & passport or be a resident
•    Hold a savings account with the bank for at least six months

Siam Commercial Bank (SCB)
•    100,000 baht monthly salary
•    Hold a valid work permit & passport
•    Three months bank statements

Krung Thai Bank
•    15,000 baht monthly salary
•    Held a work permit for at least two years & hold a valid passport
•    Six months bank statements

Bank of Ayudhya
•    Between 50,000 and 120,000 baht monthly salary
•    Held a work permit for at least one year & hold a valid passport
•    Bank statements

Kasikorn Bank
•    50,000  baht monthly salary
•    Held a work permit for at least one year & hold a valid passport
•    Bank statements
•    Credit bureau’s authorization

Note: Even though you might meet all of the bank’s requirements it still does not guarantee that you will be actually able to get the credit card.
