Having witnessed Phuket’s tourism industry grow at pretty much the same pace as himself, and with his parents already having a strong foothold in the industry, it’s no surprise that Mongkontep Khoo-aroon, or Khun Nut as he is more commonly known is following in his parents footsteps. Khun Nut recently graduated with a Masters in Hospitality & Tourism Management from Assumption University in Bangkok, a University that’s mission statements include ‘producing graduates knowledgeable in management and administration who have a sense of responsibility, are far sighted, able to think critically and creatively in challenging environments’. And I’m sure you will agree that these are traits that he’s surely going to need, as in July of this year, Khun Nut, in the position of General Manager, will hold the soft opening of his families latest resort property, the boutique, 28 unit Crystal Wild Resort.
Having seen monumental changes that have transformed many parts of his homeland, and having been aware that he would somehow be involved in an industry which has transformed the island into Thailand’s wealthiest province, for a long time now, Khun Nut envisioned a small, tropical hide-away that would allow travelers the opportunity to experience the beauty of Phuket as nature intended. And with Crystal Wild’s location being tucked away on a hillside in one of the last remaining truly tranquil and picturesque spots on the island, Cape Panwa, Khun Nut’s vision is very, very close to becoming a reality.
With only 24 studio units at soft opening stage, and with the addition of 15 villas in 2015, the resort will still retain an intimacy with its surroundings that is reminiscent of a peaceful island village.
Reached by private road, the resort’s main grounds, also features a stunning lobby, restaurant and a spectacular ocean vista. The charming, simply furnished studio units open out to a private balcony and dot the resort’s tree studded hillside and rim its shimmering pool. All the rooms are equipped with mini fridge and electric kettle. Each unit also has its own bathroom featuring a hairdryer and free toiletries. All rooms are also equipped with a flat-screen satellite TV, safety box and free Wi-Fi.
Crystal Wild Resort features beautiful tropical gardens filled with trees, plants, and flowers and one nice swimming pool, the centre piece for the units, and its location will allow you to relax and unwind in the tranquility of the countryside yet be only steps away from your accommodation. In addition, as the pool is fitted with an ionization system you can rest assured that you are swimming in pure water that isn’t being cleaned by hazardous chemicals, thus ensuring guests are not passing diseases to one another.
The resort’s restaurant, Kongkāng, is very aptly named. The English word for Kongkāng is Mangrove, and Crystal Wild Resort is located just a few hundred meters away from Cape Panwa’s mangrove lined coastline. The cuisine of Kongkāng is authentic Thai, and they will offer the best selection of Thai specialties including the freshest catch of the day from the Andaman Sea, along with southern local food served, which is some of the healthiest in Thailand. They use authentic Thai herbs carefully selected for each special dish.
Those choosing to stay at Crystal Wild resort will do so in the knowledge that it’s a quiet location, and also that it isn’t a beachfront resort. However, the resort is situated only a short distance away from the beautiful Ao Yon beach which boasts powder soft white sands, crystal clear waters and stunning views over Chalong Bay, and it’s within a short ten to fifteen minutes drive from the action of Phuket town, and an even shorter distance local attractions including Khao Khad viewpoint and Phuket Aquarium to name a few.
