Indian Wedding in Phuket, No Expense Spared

Indian Wedding in Phuket, No Expense Spared

Having seen a record number of Indian weddings taking place in Phuket in 2010, 2011 was a disappointing year for those who were expecting great things to happen again.

In the second half of 2012, Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Mumbai, having seen the big drop in numbers of Indian couples arranging their weddings and honeymoons in Phuket, organised a wedding planners’ familiarisation trip exclusively for key wedding planners’ and writers from various parts of India.

The select groups were invited to Phuket in order to inspect luxurious hotel properties that offer picturesque views matched with grand Indian wedding facilities. The hotel properties showcased their wedding venues along with traditional Indian wedding set – ups at exotic locations that included outdoor beach-front, infinity poolside, garden venues, set-up amidst a lake and grand ballrooms with elegant garlands, exquisite mandaps and flower arrangements. The group was also introduced to selective Thai and Indian cuisine at properties clubbed with the renowned Thai hospitality.

Phuket is going to gain a lot of promotion

It would appear the trip has been already started to be a success with TAT Phuket reporting 10 Indian couples having already registered to hold their wedding in Phuket. Now 10 weddings may not sound so much of a success, but what you have to bear in mind is when it comes to Indian weddings, no expense is spared.

The first wedding, taking place in February 2012, will play host to at least 200 guests and will cost between 5 and 10 million baht.

If every Indian wedding that takes place in Phuket is on the same scale as this, one thing is guaranteed; Phuket is going to gain a lot of promotion and will surely bring more investors to the island.
