Kids’ Zone: Por Tor Festival

Phuketindex.com would like to present one of Phuket’s all-time favourite traditions, the Por Tor Festival and this is an activity that you should not miss. The Por Tor Festival takes place on the fifteenth day of the seventh month in the lunar calendar (around August or September), if you visit Phuket during this time don’t miss a visit to the Por Tor Kong Shrine.

Note:
1. The Por Tor Festival, also known as the Hungry Ghost Festival, is one of the most religious and culturally rich festivals celebrated in Phuket.
2. The red turtle cakes consumed during the festival (ang koo), come in various sizes and are made from flour and sugar, or sweet sticky red rice.

How to get there:
The Por Tor Kong Shrine is located in the heart of Phuket Town, on the way to Saphanhin Park. It is on the street corner behind Bangneaw School.
