A public park located by the sea at the end of Phuket Road, Saphan Hin is a recreational park for both locals and tourists. The tin mining monument dedicated to the memory of Captain Edward Thomas Miles, the Australian who brought the first dredge to Phuket in 1909, is located inside the park. The Saphan Hin Sports Center is also located here.
A land reclamation project has provided new land which is being used for parks and public facilities at Saphan Hin. It is located where Phuket Road meets the Phuket Bay.
Hundreds of local residents visit the area every day to play sports such as tennis, basketball, volleyball or soccer in the afternoon. Those who don’t indulge in sports take a stroll down its tree-lined streets or spend their time relaxing in the sala huts. A local market sells snacks and cool drinks and one can even buy packed meals to go.
