When visiting Phuket, make sure to include at least one day in your itinerary for a day trip to a nearby island.
Depending on your schedule, you can make it a one-day trip or stay overnight for one night. Staying on the island can also provide a memorable experience. This time, I’m going to tell you about my family’s stay on Racha Island. This article is provided for your information in order to assist you in deciding where to stay in Phuket. As I previously said, there are a variety of prices and types to choose from when it comes to accommodation in Phuket. There are over a hundred hotels in various locations, with mountain, sea, and city views.
The Racha Phuket is a five-star hotel on Racha Island, at Patok Beach (Patok is the southern language means the west side). Since it is an island, it has a white sand beach as well as crystal clear water. This trip has left a great impression on everyone in my family. The hotel is right on the beach, just a few steps away from the sea, and each villa has its own private pool, which my kids appreciate.
The hotel prioritizes privacy, so each room has its own entry and exit route so that other guests are not disturbed. The room is equipped with all amenities and is serviced by a friendly staff. The staff is very attentive on this trip, and they take care of the elderly people from the start in the lounge at the pier at Chalong Bay, waiting for the boat, getting on the boat, and on the way to the island until we arrive at Racha Island.
Since the hotel is on the island, you will believe that getting there is difficult; however, it is not; simply make a reservation and the staff can set up a check-in appointment and a time for you to board the boat with you. You simply go to the hotel lounge at Chalong Pier on the appointed day. Simply sit in a comfortable air-conditioned space and relax, drink, and eat snacks. The boat is a speedboat, so you can sit easily, enjoy the breeze, and avoid getting seasick.
Racha Island, also known as Raya Island, is composed of two islands: Racha Yai and Racha Noi (6 km away from Racha Yai Island). The Racha Resort is situated on Racha Yai Island, which is approximately 15 kilometers from Phuket Island and takes 20 minutes to reach by speedboat. The island is about 3,000 square kilometers in size. Bays and beaches in a variety of environments surround the island. The island is a flat, low-lying area with no high mountains. There are villages of villagers who first settled in the area in the past. Villagers on the island work in fruit and coconut plantations, as well as in the tourism industry.
Racha Yai Island is a popular tourist destination because of its white-sand beaches. It is still included on the list of must-see attractions for visitors to Phuket. One-day trips and overnight stays are also popular, so visitors can find hotels, accommodations, and restaurants on the island. But it is not overcrowded, and it is still considered a peaceful island.
There are walking paths all over Racha Yai Island, making it easy to get around. Tourists usually enjoy the island’s natural beauty and join in water sports such as scuba diving, snorkeling, boat trips, fishing, squid fishing, and sunbathing.
The first is Ao Patok or Patok Bay, which is situated on the west side of the island, between the hills in the shape of a horseshoe. This bay is where we stay, the Racha Resort. Patok beach is Racha Island’s most beautiful beach, with fine white sand and a beautiful beach ideal for sunbathing and swimming. There is also a viewpoint near the hotel where you can walk to take beautiful pictures as a memorial.
The next stop is Siam Bay, which is around a 5-minute ride from Patok Bay. The bay on the north side of the island is known as Siam Bay. It’s a good snorkeling spot because it’s quiet and uncrowded. You can walk far into the sea at low tide and see coastal reefs.
Racha Island’s easternmost point is Thue Bay. It’s just a little bay with a short beach. The attraction is that you can see the sunrise from this beach in the morning. From Thue Bay’s viewpoint, you can also see Phi Phi Island.
Kon Kae Bay and La Bay are the other two bays of Racha Island. Kon Khae Bay is a lovely dive spot that is close to Thue Bay. La Bay is a little beach that is a good place to go diving.
This time, I selected to stay at The Racha Resort on Koh Racha Yai. My family reserved one of the 2-Bedroom Grand Pool suites and one of the Spa Pool suites in the same building. The Grand Pool Suite with two bedrooms is located on the top floor, while the Spa Pool Suite is located on the ground floor. This is because identical to a family vacation, my family can sleep close together, warm and comfy. The hotel provides a comprehensive range of services and amenities; restaurants, swimming pools, spas, kids’ clubs, and diving equipment are available for guests to use on the beach.

Let’s see, our kids are overjoyed; they describe the hotel and make an illustration on their own… and now they tell me they want to return to this island. And I’m keeping an eye out for the promotion, and I’m going to take them swimming and building a sandcastle.
