Laguna Café has Phuket’s old town style decoration with Sino-Portuguese style architecture, and the entrance displays photos of all the royal families who have visited the hotel. Whilst the open kitchen allows you to enjoy the scene as the chef’s prepare the dishes.
The restaurant serves a sumptuous array of Thai, Chinese and Portuguese cuisine and you can chose whether to enjoy your dining experience in the air conditioned room or dine alfresco with the natural breeze.
We were lucky enough to have a chance to experience dining at Laguna Café and all the dishes we devoured were world class. Thai and foreign chefs cook with their hearts and with ingredients which are always fresh. A special menu is also on offer which includes a range of Phuket specialties, Galinha a Africana and Portuguese pastei de nata as well as a fine selection wines which can be enjoyed either by the bottle or glass.
Sweet and Sour Prawns is a Chinese inspired dish. The fried prawns had a natural sweet fresh taste and firm texture, and the sweet and sour sauce adds to the flavor. It was easy to eat and is suitable for anyone.
Stir-fried Tagliatelle served with roasted duck with red wine sauce, bean sprouts and pickled ginger was a perfect fusion dish. The duck meat was subtle and had a mild taste.
The next dish to come was a Portuguese Bourride. It looks like Thai Tom Yam which might scare any of you who are beginners to spicy and hot dishes, Bourride had a mild taste though. You will be able to enjoy mussels, squid, prawns, clams and fish in one dish.
Prawn Panzanella is ideal for those on a diet. These are tiny crispy breads topped with diced tomato, cucumber, red bean and served with prawns and a healthy salad dressing.
For Thai dishes, you should never miss the Prawn Tempura. It is served with sour spicy mango salad and rice crispies, dipped with sweet chilli sauce.
Grilled chicken with Thai Som Tam served with steamed sticky rice is an all-time favorite for many of you. Grilled chicken dipped with a spicy fried chilli sauce (known as ‘Jaew) complements the dish perfectly!
The last main dish we tasted was Shrimp Fired Rice which was impressive without adding any other seasonings. You may ask for fired rice with seafood or with squid, or your own preference.
After all the main dishes we moved on to the sweet delights. All have a look great and it’s really hard to choose which one to have.
Sour Cream Cheese Cake served with Berry Sauce. The crumbly nut crust at the bottom is a great combination with the fluffy cheesecake. Full of flavor in every bite!
We ended this culinary journey with the traditional apple crumble cake. 2 pieces of cake were served with vanilla ice cream and topped with sweet cream sauce.
This is only a handful of dishes which are on offer from the menu at Laguna Café, and there are plenty more to suite every palate, and the restaurant welcomes both hotel guess or walk-in customers.
To celebrate the festive season, there are now a number of promotions on offer. You can enjoy Southeast Asian Buffet every Monday, Tex-Mex Buffet on Wednesdays or Mediterranean Buffet on Fridays only at 1,090++ THB per person.
